Condolence From: Julie Byrd Clark
Condolence: I’m so very sorry and heartbroken to read this news, my heart goes out to you all. I am Marcene’s grand daughter, Julie Sue, daughter of Michael Rex Byrd. Jody was a special lady, I only wish I could have known her more, and all of you too.
God bless you and keep you well.

Condolence: When Mother Combed My Hair
By James Whitcomb Riley
(public domain)
When Memory, with gentle hand,
Has led me to that foreign land
Of childhood days, I long to be
Again the boy on bended knee,
With head a-bow, and drowsy smile
Hid in a mother's lap the while,
With tender touch and kindly care,
She bends above and combs my hair.
Ere threats of Time, or ghosts of cares
Had paled it to the hue it wears,
Its tangled threads of amber light
Fell o'er a forehead, fair and white,
That only knew the light caress
Of loving hands, or sudden press
Of kisses that were sifted there
The times when mother combed my hair.
But its last gleams of gold have slipped
Away; and Sorrow's manuscript
Is fashioned of the snowy brow -
So lined and underscored now
That you, to see it, scarce would guess
It e'er had felt the fond caress
Of loving lips, or known the care
Of those dear hands that combed my hair.

Condolence: Jody was my mother-in-law for over 36 years. She always told me how happy she was about the people her children chose to marry. She loved her family and was a very friendly person. Jody came to visit every place her son Roger and I have lived, New Mexico, Illinois, Tennessee, even Alaska! She loved nature and seeing new places. She was a loving mother to her 3 children, a wonderful grandmother to her 5 grandchildren - and delighted in her 3 great grandchildren. Even in her later years, she could remember all of her school teachers’ names. She was sweet and funny and so caring. She always rooted for the underdog and was fiercely loyal to those she loved. I will miss her!

Condolence: So sorry for your lost. I worked with Jody at the Bursar Office. She was a lovely lady. She knew some of my family from Heltonville. We would talk about everyone. Sure am going to miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
