Obituary for Martha Rosalee "Rosie" Horn

Martha Rosalee "Rosie" Horn
Rosie Horn (Nanny), 80, went home to be reunited with her Lord on Saturday February 3,2018 at the Hospice House, Bloomington, IN, surrounded by her family, after a battle with cancer. She was born on July 22, 1937 in Bloomington, IN to the late Martha Viola and Charles Gilbert Boltinghouse.
Rosie, a lady full of whit, love and the best laugh you have ever heard. She loved the Lord, her husband and her family. She came to know the Lord at age 6 at The Salvation Army, she was a member of the 11th Street Pentecostal church and attended Stanford Baptist and Lifeway Baptist Churches as well. Rosie and Wade made a beautiful life together; demonstrating genuine love one for another. Rosie and Wade were actively involved in the lives of their family and community. They were actively involved in 4H with their children while making many memories at “the farm” on Oard Road. The family farm, The Little Big Horn, Little Big Horn Moto-X, was a place where abundant family and community memories were made. Rosie (and Wade) leave a rich legacy of blessing others’ through God’s love. Rosie also enjoyed collecting antiques, painting, genealogy, gardening, reading, flowers, and bird watching.

Rosie, a Bloomington, IN native, a 1955 graduate of Bloomington High School, but never stopped learning. She worked at Sarkes Tarzan, where she met the love of her life, Wade. They were married in June 1957 in Corinth, MS; as she describes, it was the happiest day of my life. After marriage, Rosie and Wade moved to Chicago, IL to begin their family and start their own business, J&W Electronics. Together, they ran a very successful business repairing TV turners when Televisions were first introduced into our society. They eventually returned home to Bloomington IN, continuing their business endeavors, and growing their family. Enjoying farm life, raising their family, Rosie returned to the workforce and retired from IU Campus Bus in 1999.

Rosie is survived by her two dogs; Ms. Tiger, and King Theodore. These two dogs brought Rosie an abundance of companionship and she loved them with all of her being. She is also survived by her daughters, Joyce Edwards of Bloomington; Julia Broadstreet (Jeff) of Bloomington, Marilyn Dickens (DIL) of Old Hickory, TN. 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

Rosie is also survived by the following siblings, Sharon (Avery) Hays; Donetta (Dave) Willibey, Beth (Ronnie) Terrell, Nancy (Eddie) Hupp, Steve (Paula) Boltinghouse. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and many friends.

Rosie was preceded in death by her great granddaughter Ellie Reese Broadstreet, her beloved husband, L. Wade Horn, her sons Jeffrey and Jimmy Horn, her sister Joan Wicker and her parents.

Visitation will be held at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard on Tuesday February 6, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. and from 10-11 a.m. on Wednesday February 7, 2018 with services being conducted at 11:00 a.m. by Pastor Steve Von Bokern. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
