Robert E. "Bob"  Crider
Robert E. “Bob” Crider, 87, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday February 17, 2018 at Monroe Hospital with his family at his side. Bob was born September 21, 1930 in Bloomington and was the son of the late John E. and Roxie B. (Shields) Crider. He was a graduate of University High School and attended Indiana University.
Bob married Virginia “Sue” Burks in 1954 and they enjoyed 46 years of marriage until her passing in July, 2000.
Bob and his father began J.E. Crider & Son in 1954 which later became Crider & Crider, Inc. Bob and John worked side by side in the family business until John’s passing in 1993. After John’s passing Bob formed Crider & Crider, Inc with his sons Steve and Jeff which continues to operate today. Bob was also a real estate developer building several projects through the years.
Bob enjoyed going to his winter home in Ft. Myers Beach, FL and attending construction equipment auctions.
Bob is survived by his four children; Jill C. Stolen (Alvin “Kit”) of Columbia, Missouri, Steve Crider (Christie), Jeff Crider (Lynda) and Cheryl Crider-Jackson (Ron) all of Bloomington. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren; Kiersten Koven (Kevin), Chelsea Stolen, Victoria Stolen, Katherine Crider, Courtney Crider, Joseph Crider, Addison Crider, John Evan Crider (Kelsey), Cassidy Crider, Ryan Jackson (Niki), Tyler Jackson (Michelle), Lane Jackson (McKenna), and Lillian “Lily Sue” Jackson, and one great granddaughter Madilyn Sophia Jackson. Bob is also survived by his special friend of the last 12 years, Marian Beaver of Oolitic.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Roxie B. Crider, wife, Sue Crider and granddaughter, Kelsey Stolen.
Visitation for Bob will be on Thursday February 22, 2018 from 2-8 pm and Friday February 23, 2018 from 12-2 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington.
Services will be 2:00 pm Friday February 23, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Teri Crouse officiating. Burial will follow at Knightridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given in Bob’s memory to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
