Obituary for Mary Lucille "Mitzi" Toner

Mary Lucille “Mitzi” Toner, 60 of Bloomington passed away peacefully October 4, 2019 at her residence with loved ones by her side. She was born May 1, 1959 in Lake Charles, LA. She was the daughter of Colonel Daniel J. & Lt. Mary E. King Toner. Mitzi graduated from St. Bernard Academy Nashville, TN class of 1977. After graduation, she followed in her parents’ footsteps and joined the military where she served in the Army as a sergeant. Received her Associate degree then became a Registered Respiratory Therapist and worked in many areas across the country, ultimately settling in Bloomington.
Mitzi was preceded in death by both her parents, brother-in law Ted Tuleck, and mother-in law Mary Henson and family member Keith Kitson Logue. She is survived by her wife Angel Butcher of Bloomington, IN; sisters Catherine Toner-Logue and Danielle Toner both of Bloomington, IN; brother Joseph (Brea) Toner of Tennessee. Also surviving are sister-in- laws Lisa (Scott May) Butcher, Tracy (Gary) Meadows, Monice Henson; brother-in- laws, Mark Butcher, Scott (Jennifer) Butcher; and father-in-law William “Bill” Henson all of Bloomington, IN. In addition, nieces Caitlin Logue, Scarlet Toner, Emily Butcher (Garrett) Fox, Madison Maners; nephews Hayden & Declan Toner, Shane (Katie Denny) Meadows, Jared (Natasha) Meadows, David Butcher, Jordan (Keisha) Butcher & Dakota Maners, LaMonte, William and Julian Henson. Some of the happiest days this year were spent with her great-nieces and nephews Nola, Amelia and Foster Meadows and Alliyah, Ezra and Addie Butcher. They brought so much love, joy and laughter into her life. Mitzi is also survived by her loyal canine and feline companions, Teddie and Carly, whom she loved dearly. Mitzi enjoyed taking care of patients and was a dog and cat lover. She enjoyed the outdoors, taking long hikes with her dogs, gardening, painting and recently kayaking with family and friends.
A special thank you goes out to IU Health Hospice Care Team, Dr. Lourdes, nurse Kayla and Brother Pete who gave Mitzi comfort, understanding and peace.
Visitation will be held on Friday October 11, 2019 from 4-8 pm and Saturday October 12, 2019 from 9:30 am until service time at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard; 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN. The service will be Saturday October 12, 2019 at 10:30 am followed by a graveside service at Valhalla Memory Oak Tree Gardens with military honors.
