Obituary for Bette L. Underwood

Bette L. Underwood, 76, of Bloomington, died on Saturday at her residence surrounded by her family. Bette was born December 14, 1933 in Bloomington and was the daughter of Russell and Hazel (Galyan) Noel. She had worked at Indiana University in the Admissions Department and retired from the Indiana University Credit Union. She was a member of the Unionville Church of Christ and had volunteered for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include her two sons and daughters-in-law Jeff and Kathy Underwood of Bloomington and Craig and Julie Underwood of Carmel. Also surviving are six sisters Doris Kent, Marjorie Shaw, Shirley Bastin, Ramona Smith (Lloyd), Rosalie Fleener (Joe) all of Bloomington and Jean Baker (Johnny) of Avon. Six grandchildren, Amanda (Underwood) Stevens, Christopher and Lindy Underwood, Nathaniel Underwood, Sara (Underwood) and J.R. Rodgers, Katherine Underwood, Benjamin Underwood and two great grandchildren Wyatt and Robert Stevens also survive. Bette was preceded in death by her husband Robert L. Underwood (1979), her parents, an infant brother Phillip Lee Noel and three brothers-in-law Leo Kent, Russell Shaw, and Kenny Bastin. Funeral services will be officiated by Brother Allen Ketchersid at 10:00am on Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington with burial to follow at Little Union Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 2-8pm at The Funeral Chapel Memorial Contributions may be made to the Berean Children’s Home in care of Unionville Church of Christ.
