Obituary for
Philip Robert Young
Philip Robert Young, 73, of Unionville, IN, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2013 after a long illness. He was born to Everett and Anna Elizabeth “Betty” (Poling) Young on January 25, 1940 in Unionville, Indiana. Philip graduated from Unionville High School in 1958, served in the United States Army and retired from Detroit Diesel Allison’s in Indianapolis after 30 years. He married Nancy B. Logsdon on December 2, 1964. Philip enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, summer vacations to Florida, and IU basketball. He was a member of the Little Union Baptist Church. Philip is survived by his wife Nancy (Logsdon) Young; one brother Lonnie (Judy) Young; mother Betty Young; three daughters, Beth Lundy of Lakewood, Colorado, Tammy Jones (David) of Unionville, Indiana, and Debbie Rodgers (Dane) of Avon, Indiana. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Leah Wolfe, Deborah Jones, Tyler Jones, Dane Rodgers III, and Avery Rodgers, three great grandchildren, Kayla Bailey, Valerie Wolfe, and Daniel Wolfe, and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Philip was preceded in death by his father Everett Young, and one sister Ann (Young) Mathis. Visitation will be Friday February 15, 2013 from 4-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street, Bloomington. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Saturday at The Funeral Chapel with Rev. Frank Helton officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
