Robert Wayne "Bob" Overton
Robert Wayne “Bob” Overton, 64, of Bloomington and formerly of Odon went home to be with the Lord on Thursday February 20, 2014 at IU Health Hospice House. Bob was born September 21, 1949 in Washington, IN and was the son of the late Charles R. and Mara Lela (Bond) Overton. Bob was a Veteran of the United States Navy, member of the VFW, and worked for over 40 years at Crane. He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church where he attended the Beacon’s Sunday School Class, and was involved with the Community Bible Study and Military Fellowship. Bob married Sylvia Dell (Sargent) Overton on April 9, 1972 and they enjoyed 42 years of marriage. Sylvia survives along with their son Kelly Overton of Scotland, IN and daughter Leslie Matthews (Nathan) of London, England, along with their children Eva Matthews and Oscar Matthews. Also surviving are two sisters Kay Malone (Herschel) of Odon, IN and Wanda Myers (Dean) of Bloomington, sister-in-law, Linda Britton (Richard) of Loogootee, IN and brother-in-law, Paul Sargent (Nicci) of Franklin, IN 5 nephews, 3 nieces, 8 great nephews and 6 great nieces. Services for Bob will be 1:00 pm Saturday March 1, 2014 at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church, 2700 E. Rogers Road, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time at the church. Bob will be laid to rest at 3:30 pm Saturday March 1 at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Odon, IN with full military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to Sherwood Oaks Christian Church.
