Obituary for Arnold "Durand" Osborne

Arnold Durand Osborne of Bloomington passed away at IU Health Hospice House on June 13, 2016. He was born in Martinsville to John R. Osborne and Vivian Ames Osborne.

Durand was a graduate of Solsberry High School class of 1960. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree from Indiana University, and a second Master’s degree from Kutztown State University in Pennsylvania and a Doctor of Education degree from Nova University in Florida.

He was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and Alumni of Indiana University, Kutztown State University, Nova University, University Club, Indiana Retired Teachers Association, The Monroe County Teachers Association and The American Legion Post 18.

Durand served in the United States Air Force from 1961 – 1965 with two years in Japan and 20 months in Germany.

He is survived by his partner of 43 years, Jack C. Kobylinski, his aunt Annice Osborne, sister-in-law Sharon Osborne, and several nieces and nephews.

Durand was preceded in death by his father, mother, both his maternal and paternal grandparents, his sisters, Geraldine V. Hayes (Donald), Wanda J. Stephen (Delbert), his brother Johnny Joe Osborn, his uncle Pete Osborne, and a nephew Timothy W. Stephen.
Visitation will be held from 4-8 pm Monday, June 27th 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., in Bloomington. Durand was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where a funeral mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 28th 2016. Burial will follow at Solsberry Cemetery with military honors.
Memorial Contributions may be made to IU Health Hospice.
