Christopher Wayne  Key
Christopher Wayne Key, 50 passed away on Friday June 24, 2016 in Johnson County, Illinois. Chris was born February 14, 1966 in Bloomington to Linda Weddle Key and Jerry Key.
Chris is survived by his mother Linda Weddle of Terre Haute, his loving wife and best friend Deandra Kinser Key of Ozark, Illinois, daughter, Jesse Kinser (Jessica), and beloved grandson Graham Kinser all of Plainfield. Also surviving is his mother-in-law Beverly Kinser of Ellettsville, brothers, Gregory Key (Angel), Michael Key (Lesa), Steven Key (Beth), and Bradley Pedro (Hank), and sister Catherine Key all of Terre Haute, grandfather and mentor H. Robert Weddle, aunt Janis (Dee-Dee) Weddle, of Bloomington, and uncle Tom Weddle (Cheryl) of Bicknell. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Chris was preceded in death by his father Jerry Key, grandparents, Ed and Polly Key of Tennessee, and the grandmother he adored Doris Weddle. Also preceding him was his father-in-law Ronnie Kinser.
Chris attended church at Ellettsville Baptist and was baptized as a young man with his siblings. Chris was a 1984 graduate of Edgewood High School excelling in his favorite sport football. As a quarterback he set several school records, some of which still hold today. He attended Triton University in Chicago on a football scholarship as quarterback. He also enjoyed and played basketball and youth baseball. He had many teammates and friends he admired.
An avid IU fan of both football and basketball, he had a “Hoosier Room” in every home where his work took him to proudly display his IU memorabilia. Chris was employed by Delta Co. in Marion, Illinois. He was in Asphalt Management 30 plus years in multiple states.
Visitation for Chris will be Thursday June 30, 2016 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St.
Services will follow at 1:00 pm at The Funeral Chapel with Roger Clark officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery where Chris will be buried with the ashes of his faithful pet companions “Hoosier” and “Cash”.
Contributions in Chris’ memory may be given to the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington.
