John Wesley Payne
John Wesley Payne, 80, of Bloomington passed away on Friday November 11, 2016 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. John was born January 11, 1936 in Monroe County and was the son of the late John D. and Dorothy Margariet (Whisnand) Payne.
John was a Pipefiter/Welder and belonged to the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 136. He had worked for R & B Construction, Miller Pipeline, Indiana Gas and Indiana University. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Monroe Lodge #22 F & AM, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, Stonebelt Shrine, and York Rite and a member of the Moose Lodge #1081. John and June were married on March 18, 1955 at his parents’ home by Rev. Leo Miller. They were married 61 years.
Survivors include his wife June (Eads) Payne of Bloomington, 3 daughters, Teresa St. John (Fred), Ladonna Jo Payne and Ginger Adkisson (Donnie) all of Bloomington, along with 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, son, Johnny Payne, daughter, Tamara Kay McClung, and brother Eugene Payne.
Services for John will be 10:00 am Wednesday November 16, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Brother Fred Stanger will officiate the service with burial following at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be on Tuesday November 15, 2016 from 3-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel with a Masonic Service at 7:00 pm.
