Claudia Ann (Gobert) Hamric, 71, of Ellettsville passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born, March 8, 1945 in Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Claude Wayne “Jug” and Anna Lorene (Spinks) Gobert.
Claudia was a 1962 graduate of Bloomington High School and graduate from Indiana University where she earned a Masters Degree in History and English.
She was a member of Job’s Daughters, and Alpha Delta Omega.
Claudia was the Owner, Proprietor, and CEO along with her husband Mike of Hamric’s Earthworks, a landscaping and swimming pool company that they operated for 35 years.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, she enjoyed animals and spending time with her family.
Claudia loved church and church hymns. She also loved teaching children, and was an advocate of lifelong learning.
Survivors include son, James Michael “Jim” Hamric Jr. (Michelle) of Ellettsville, daughter, Alexia Cathern Hamric of Bloomington, grandchildren, Christopher “Mooch” Hamric and Isabelle Cathern Hamric, sister, Saundra (Gobert) Kahl of Bloomington, brother, Steve Gobert (Susan) of Columbus, brother-in-law, Pat Hamric (Barbara “Bobbie Jo”) of Greenville, NC; niece, Valerie Kahl and nephews, Ryan Gobert, Matt Gobert, Joe Hamric and Nick Hamric.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, James Michael “Mike” Hamric Sr. (2007), brother-in-law, Jerry Kahl and mother and father-in-law, James and Essie Hamric.
Visitation will be 3-7pm Monday, December 12, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 7:00pm Monday at The Funeral Chapel with Mark Villanova officiating.
