Obituary for
Jay Eric Brinegar
Jay Eric Brinegar, age 50, of Ellettsville, Indiana, passed away at his residence on December 22, 2016. Jay was born in Bloomington on November 28, 1966 to Ronald and Deloris (Funkhouser) Brinegar. Jay graduated Edgewood High School in 1985. He took general studies classes at Indiana University before he decided to become an x-ray technician. He also worked at the antique store his parents owned, and was an auctioneer. Jay was most recently an insurance agent with Bloom. He enjoyed antiques and collectibles, auctions, turtles, working with flowers, national monuments, and tropical fish, of which he had many.
Jay is survived by his wife, Stacy (Oaks) Brinegar, his parents, his brothers, Mark and Jody (Lori) Brinegar, his sister-in-law, Karen Brinegar, his nephews, Patrick, Christopher (Marie), Jacob, and Adam Brinegar, his nieces, Charlotte (Steve) Reed and Erika (Eric) Brinegar, his aunt, Meredith Warner, his uncle Bill (Kuniko) Funkhouser, his grandnephews, Trevor and Emmerick Brinegar, his grandniece, Zaidee Brinegar, and many cousins.
Jay was preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Brinegar, his grandparents, Otho and Thelma Funkhouser and Robert and Edith Brinegar, his uncles, Gary Brinegar, Warren Funkhouser, and Steve Warner, and his aunt, Sandra Gobert.
Visitation for Jay will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St, Bloomington, Indiana 47401 and from 11:00 until 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel.
Jay’s funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at The Funeral Chapel. Kent Ellett of Speedway Church of Christ will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you send memorial contributions to The Cancer Association of Shelby County, 31 Public Square, Shelbyville, Indiana 46176, in Jay’s name.
