Obituary for James Eugene Stogsdill Jr.

James Eugene Stogsdill Jr.
James Eugene Stogsdill, Jr, 73, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017 at home after a short illness.
He was born March 19, 1943, in Bloomington to James Eugene Stogsdill, Sr., and Martha Wood Stogsdill.
On September 6, 1987 he married Brenda Mitchell.
He graduated from Bloomington High School with the Class of 1961.
He was a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1965 until retiring as Master Sargent in 2003. He worked for the Military Department of Indiana 1966-1999.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda, two sons, Craig J. Stogsdill and Mark Allen Stogsdill, of Bloomington, one daughter, Melissa Lea Beasley of Albuquerque, NM.
One grandson, Colton Stogsdill.
Jim loved building, talking about and being around hot rods. Jim never met a stranger. If he didn’t know you when he walked into a room, restaurant, garage or the grocery store, he knew everything about you before he left and you were friends for life. He could run circles around guys half his age.
He loved to gather friends together. At Jim’s request we will gather with food and friendship for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, March 18, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m at the Monroe County Fairgrounds Auditorium. A tribute to his life is planned at 5:00 p.m. Weather permitting all hot rodders please bring your cars.
The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington is handling arrangements.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County, 2009 19th Street, Bedford, IN 47421.
