Lucian W. Hale
Lucian W. Hale, 84, of Ellettsville passed away Sunday, March 5, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born, August 4, 1932 in Wayne, West Virginia, he was the son of Lucien and Lina (Miller) Hale.
Lucian was a veteran of United States Navy, serving during the Korean War.
He retired 47 years after a great career with the U.S. Post Office in Bloomington, IN.
Lucian was a preacher for many years at several Church of Christ churches across the area. He served as an Elder at Morgan Street Church of Christ in Martinsville.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid student of the Bible. He enjoyed gardening, singing, bowling, and going to auctions with his wife.
Lucian owned and operated a laundromat for many years.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Gloria (Rawley) Hale; children: Lucian Daniel Hale (Patty), Sherri Ann Walker (Dennis), and Timothy Hale (Stephanie); sisters: Barbara Hicks, and Bernice Ray; grandchildren: Heather Jewell (Shane), Daniel Chad Hale (Mikey), Brittany Hale, Adrienne Winks, Jon Stacy, J.R. Stacy, Jordan Hale (Hannah), and Kierstin Hale; great-grandchildren: Mallory, Kennedy, and Parker Jewell, and Ava Hale. As well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Talmadge, Garnet, Charles, and Edward Hale, Tennie Booth, and Opal Mills.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday, March 7, 2017 and 12-1pm Wednesday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 1:00pm Wednesday at The Funeral Chapel with Brother Ronnie Whittemore.
