Obituary for
Leonard R. "Pap" Fleener
Leonard R "Pap" Fleener, 88, of Unionville passed away Tuesday at Monroe Hospital. Leonard was born August 2, 1928. He was the son of Floyd and Catherine (Meadows) Fleener.
Leonard served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He worked as a Union 841 Heavy equipment operator for J.E. Crider and Sons (Crider &Crider) for 45 plus years. He also ran their asphalt crew for several years. Leonard enjoyed working and spent his free time loving the outdoors, fishing, rabbit and squirrel hunting and especially mushroom hunting. Leonard loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, great grandkids, and especially his dog “Baby”. After retiring from Crider & Crider, he spent several summers selling produce at Kmart east parking lot or W. 46. He was a member of the New Unionville Baptist Church.
Leonard is proceeded in death by his parents and his wife Pauline H. Fleener (Hendrickson).
Survivors include his sister Betty (Fleener) Hacker her husband Ron. 5 children - Kathy Haney, Linda Bush, Monty Browning, Rick Sexton and Kim McClanahan (all of Bloomington.) 14 grandchildren - Jody Fishel, TD Haney, Kimberley Haney, Frank E. Deckard, Eugenia L. Moore, Jeff Busch, Lisa M. Clark Mosier, Lila D. Johnson, Emily S. Sexton, John Wayne Sexton, Nathan E. Scalf, Daniel McClanahan, Matthew McClanahan and Krystal Harding. Leonard also had 33 great grandchildren.
Services will be 1pm Monday, March 13, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Burial will follow at Valhalla.
Visitation will be 2-6 pm Sunday, March 12th at The Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to the New Unionville Baptist Church.
