Obituary for Margaret Anne Ryan (Sica)

Bloomington – Margaret Anne Ryan died unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2017 at Monroe Hospital surrounded by her husband and other family members. Margaret was born, raised and worked in New York City before locating to Bloomington, Indiana in 1981. She is survived by her husband John Ryan. They were looking forward to their 50th Wedding Anniversary in January 2018.
Besides her husband, Margaret is survived by two sisters, Irene Minucci (Anthony) of Bloomington, Indiana and Cathy Bell (Raymond) of Carteret, New Jersey. She is also survived by three nephews, Raymond Bell, Jr. of New Jersey and Matthew Sica and Anthony Minucci, Jr. of Indiana and many grandnephews and grandnieces.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Anthony and Mary Sica in 1986 and brother James Sica in 2009.
Margaret was a devoted wife and cherished sister and aunt and a friend to many. Margaret retired after working for Otis Elevator for 48 years. She graduated from Cathedral High School in New York City and at the age of 50 she returned to further her education and she received her bachelor’s degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. She was a very active member of the Bloomington Elks Lodge and served as Exalted Ruler and several other positions and chairmanships and was scheduled to be Chaplain for our Local Lodge. She also served in several State Elks positions, including State Chaplain and was currently an active member of the Elks State Convention Committee. Margaret was one of the original founding members of the Bloomington Elks Ladies’ Auxiliary and served as its President for many years. She also was a member of St. John The Apostle Catholic Church in Bloomington. Margaret’s sudden and surprising passing has shocked us and she will be sorely missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Friday April 7, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at The Funeral Chapel, 3000 E. 3rd Street, Bloomington, IN 47401. The Bloomington Elks will conduct their Elks Memorial Service at 6 p.m.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, 4607 State Road 46, Bloomington, IN at 10 a.m. on Saturday April 8, 2017 with burial to follow at the Elks Rest in Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington, Indiana.
