Obituary for David F. Trueblood
David Franklin Trueblood, 82, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Sunday July 2, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House. Dave was born November 4, 1934 in Bloomington and was the son of the late John and Martha (Cherry) Trueblood.
Dave was a graduate of Bloomington High School and served in the United States Army from 1954-1957. He worked for SAP's Doughnuts and Colonial Bread. He owned Dave's Food Mart, Short Stop Food Mart, Sport It and Orange Julius. Dave served as President of Babe Ruth Baseball from 1982-1985, coached youth sports, was an avid bowler and played baseball and basketball. In his "retirement" Dave drove buses for IU Athletics, worked security at Assembly Hall, and he drove for Rural Transit.
Dave was a wonderful husband, father and pa paw and never knew a stranger. He valued his time with family, especially his grandchildren which were his greatest joy. He had a love of life and laughter. He knew how to make everyone feel loved and special. Dave had a gift of serving others.
Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Elaine (Hazel) Trueblood of Bloomington, 3 children; J.D. Trueblood (Lea) of Fishers, Tonya Trueblood of Bloomington and Keith Trueblood (Emilie) of Bloomington, 6 grandchildren; Cole Trueblood, Xavier Trueblood, Hannah Trueblood, Stella Trueblood, Hailey Trueblood and Zeke Trueblood. Also surviving are 5 brothers and sisters; Virginia Dixon, Martha Porter, Patty Miller (Charlie), Ronnie Trueblood (Mary), and Larry Trueblood (Mary Jane) along with many nieces and nephews.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents and 6 brothers and sisters; Anne Blackmoore, Junior Trueblood, Jim Trueblood, Phil Trueblood, Betty Ritter and Dick Trueblood.
Services for Dave will be 1:00 pm Monday July 10, 2017 at Fairview United Methodist Church, 600 W. 6th St. Bloomington. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation for Dave will be from 3-7 pm Sunday July 9, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington and from Noon until service time on Monday at the church.
