Obituary for Norma Joreen Stipp

Norma Joreen Stipp, 88, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday July 5, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House surrounded by her family. Norma was born August 30, 1928 in Lawrence County and was the daughter of the late Ray E. and Arteena V. (Perry) Goodman. She was a 1946 graduate of Needmore High School and had attended Ivy Tech for Nursing. Norma was a homemaker and later was a care giver, taking care of her husband until his passing and after that others that needed her love and care.
Norma was a long time member of the Whitehall Holiness Church where she served at Treasurer for 30 years and was the pianist. Norma’s favorite thing to do was to attend church and serve the Lord. Norma also enjoyed gardening and loved to care for the beautiful flowers she grew each year and she enjoyed hummingbirds.
Norma married Rev. Stanley Harold Stipp and they enjoyed 39 years of marriage until his passing in 1985. They had 7 children all who survive, Vickie Van Meter (John), Monte “Buddy” (Penni) Stipp, Kathy (Wayne) Zwicky, Mark (Robin) Stipp, Philip (Vicky) Stipp, Mary (Ronald) Koontz and Carol (Steve) Axsom. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren; Kerri Jean, Chris (Kim) Paquette, April Nellis, Chad (Amy) Cain, Aaron (Amber) Zwicky, Keeley (Joshua) Nichols, Lora (Phil) Gray, Chad (Valerie) Umphress, Travis (Shannon) Stipp, Trayton (Andrea) Stipp, Kaitlin Koontz, Ronnie Koontz, Shannon (Javier) Sprigatis, Shane (Kacie) Axsom, and Shawn (Leslie) Axsom. Also surviving are 32 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, one sister Sharon Hardwick, brother-in-laws James (Karen) Stipp, Michael Carr and William Bush along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Norma in death were her husband Rev. Stanley Harold Stipp, parents, two sisters, Bonnie Bush, and Ann Carr, granddaughter Joni Marie Cain, grandson-in-law Jeff Jean, and brother-in-law Vestal "Butch" Hardwick.
Services for Norma will be 1:00 pm Tuesday July 11, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Pastor Justin Jessup and Rev. Buddy Perry will officiate the service and burial will follow at Pleasant Run Cemetery in Lawrence County.
Visitation will be at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard from 4-8 pm Monday July 10, 2017 and 12:00 pm until service time on Tuesday.
