William "Luke" Joseph Lucas
William “Luke” Joseph Lucas, 63, passed away on August 20, 2017. Known as “Luke” or “Bill” to many friends and family, he was born on Oct. 8, 1953 in Anderson, Indiana, and enjoyed life with his wife, Jane, in Bloomington, Indiana. For the past 22 years, he has owned and operated Sound Hearing Company in central Indiana.
Luke was a 1975 graduate of Ball State University and later earned his MBA at Northwestern University. He enjoyed playing tennis and vacationing with his family. He excelled at bringing people together, he loved dancing, singing, playing with his many grandchildren and being surrounded by friends and family. Luke’s love of life was bigger than life itself and he brought joy to everyone he met. He was a kind and gentle soul who will be greatly missed by those lucky to have known him.
Survivors include his wife, Jane Lucas; brothers, Kevin (Carolyn) Lucas, Jim (Laura) Lucas and Dan (Kelly) Lucas; children, Ben (Vickie) Lucas, Noah Lucas and Ali (Sage) Danch; stepchildren, Bill (Sylvia) Laughlin, Charlie (Jennifer) Laughlin, John (Susan) Laughlin and Kelly (Martin) Wolf; and 11 beautiful grandchildren.
Luke was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph E. and Doris G. (Mikels) Lucas.
Visitation will be held Tuesday August 22, 2017 from 5-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell & Deckard, 3000 E. 3rd St., Bloomington and on Wednesday from 9:00 am until service time. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday August 23 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Catholic Center, 1413 E. 17th St., Bloomington. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington.
