Obituary for Stephen Joseph Rush

Stephen Joseph Rush, 72 of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday August 26, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House, surrounded by his loving family.

Stephen was born February 15, 1945 in Charlestown, Indiana and was the son of the late Kenneth Robert and Ruby Onita (Cantrell) Rush. He was owner/operator for over 25 years of Steve's Home and Office Cleaning. He was a member of Smithville Christian Church, and was a member for over 20 years of the Hoosier Bassmasters. Steve made custom fishing poles as a hobby and he enjoyed going to sprint car races, loved watching NHRA drag racing and IU basketball and football. Steve's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, especially his grandson Alan.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Marcia (Payne) Rush, daughter Stephanie Christy (Shane) of Solsberry, grandson Alan Christy of Solsberry, 3 sisters; Carole Rush of Bloomington, Naola Frye (Don) of Solsberry and Gloria Sola of Ocala, Florida, sister-in-law Bessie Rush of Bloomignton along with many nieces, nephews, friends and fishing buddies.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Lowell Rush and sister Roxanna Rush.

Services for Steve will be 10:30 am Wednesday August 30, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Pastor Stephen Johnson will officiate the service and burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Tuesday August 29, 2017 and from 9:30 am until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Steve's family would like to thank the Nurses and Doctors at IU Health Bloomington on 4 East Oncology, IU Health Hospice House Nurses, Doctors and staff, Dr. Marshall Poor and especially Dr. Jackie Joyce and staff along with the nurses in the Infusion Center for all of the wonderful and loving care that Steve received during his illness.

Contributions in Steve's memory may be given to the IU Health Hospice House.
