Obituary for Rebecca N. Cooksey

Rebecca N. Cooksey, 65, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully on Thursday September 14, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington surrounded by her loving family.
Becky was born October 28, 1951 in Logansport, Indiana and was the daughter of the late Donald Charles and Patricia Jane (Palmer) Neal. Becky was a 1969 graduate of Mitchell High School and attended Indiana University. She was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Bloomington. She retired from Indiana University as Manager, Enterprise Decision Support Services with UITS.
Becky was a founding Board Member of Habitat for Humanity of Monroe County, and also served as their first Treasurer. She prided herself with the knowledge and ability to tackle any home improvement project with her extensive tool collection. She was a talented seamstress. She loved the outdoors especially hiking, camping and boating. Her greatest joy and love in her life was being a Mother and a Nana.
Becky is survived by her husband Chuck Cooksey, daughter, Sarah Schum Payton (Luke), step daughters; Tricia Riveire and Amy Hahaj (Ryan). Also surviving are 6 grandchildren; Will and Dane Payton, Madalynn and Jack Riveire and Raegan and Baylor Hahaj and brother-in-law Fred Priest.
Preceding her in death were her parents, sister Jane Ann Priest and husband Steve Gribble.
Visitation for Becky will be from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm Tuesday September 19, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church 219 E. 4th Street Bloomington, with a Memorial Service immediately following at 3:00 pm with Pastor Mark Fenstermacher officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Becky's memory to IU Health Hospice House.
