Obituary for Dwight Michael Deckard

Dwight Michael Deckard, 73, of Bloomington, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday October 26, 2017 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Dwight was born July 5, 1944 in Bloomington and was the son of the late Ralph and Ruby (Frye) Deckard.
Mike was a painter and formerly owned a pool hall. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion and AmVets. He loved to play euchre, going to the boat, fishing, deer hunting, playing golf and was one of the best pool players in Bloomington.
Mike is survived by 4 children; Michael Deckard, William Deckard Sr. (Christi), Chris Deckard (Angie) and Trisha Johnson (Eddie), all of Bloomington, 2 sisters; Delores Eads and Daisy Sympson, brother, Dale Deckard, 10 grandchildren; Latrisha Deckard, James Deckard, Brandon Deckard, Ashley Deckard, Nevaeh Deckard, Logan Deckard, Cutler Deckard, Hannah Deckard, William Deckard Jr., and Emma Deckard, 13 great grandchildren; Cameron Fischman, Carly Fischman, Claeb Deckard, Casey Deckard, Jayden Deckard, Carson Deckard, MaKinzey Deckard, MaKai Deckard, MaKinley Deckard, MaKaya Deckard, Jaylen Arthur, Kaden Arthur, Jazzlyn Arthur, and his ex wife, Mary DeFord.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Diana Groh, and 2 brothers; Delmar Deckard and Don Deckard.
Services for Mike will be 1:00 pm Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. Pastor Aaron Strunk will officiate the service and burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Tuesday.
Memorial Contributions may be made in Mike’s memory to The American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
