Obituary for Ralph Charles Spears

Ralph Charles Spears, 98 of Bloomington, passed away on Friday October 27, 2017 at the IU Health Hospice House. Ralph was born October 5, 1919 in Pemberville, Ohio and was the son of the late Charles Eli and Icy Myrtle (Horner) Spears. He was a graduate of Bowling Green High School and attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Ralph retired after many years from RCA where he was a draftsman and later a tool and die engineer.
Ralph was a member of St. Paul Catholic Center in Bloomington and was a long time member of St. Pius X Parish in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a master gardener, loved to play bridge, fish and was the consummate “handy man”. He was a loving father and grandfather and a true gentleman.
Ralph is survived by 3 children; Carol Derheimer (Dan) of Bloomington, Charles Spears (Denise) of Bonita Springs, FL and Claudia Spears of Estero, FL. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren; Samantha Derheimer, Carly Derheimer, Lainey Derheimer, Jason Spears (Amanda) and Matt Spears and one great granddaughter Jayceena Spears. He was preceded in death by his wife Marie and his granddaughter Rhonda Spears.
Services for Ralph will be 11:00 am Thursday Novembe2, 2017 at the St. Paul Catholic Center, 1413 E. 17th Street Bloomington. Private family burial will be at Calvary St. Joseph, Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis.
Visitation will be from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ralph’s memory may be given to the IU Health Hospice House.
