Obituary for Betty Sue Settles

Betty Sue Settles, 101, of Bloomington and formerly of Beech Grove, passed away on Sunday December 3, 2017 at the Stone Croft Health Campus with her loving son by her side. Betty was born October 15, 1916 in Indianapolis and lived there for the next 98 years. She was the daughter of the late Lee and Bertie (Hatfield) Jackson. Betty moved to Bloomington in 2014 to be closer to her son.
Betty was a homemaker and was a member of the First Christian Church in Beech Grove and was baptized before the congregation at the age of 95. When living in Indianapolis, Betty enjoyed playing cards with friends, attending Beef and Boards and traveling. She was also active with the Beech Grove Senior Citizens and the Red Hat Society.
Betty married William Settles on July 4, 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1971.
Betty is survived by her son William Settles Jr. and wife Sharon of Bloomington, grandchildren, Kate Settles of St. Petersburg Beach, FL and John Settles of Greenwood, great grandchildren, Paige Settles of Evansville, Jacqueline Settles of Greenwood, and Blake Settles of Bloomington.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband, two sisters, Vi Lyke and Virginia Saunders and brothers, Herb Jackson, Chester Jackson and an infant brother at birth.
Visitation for Betty will be from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Sunday December 10, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington with a brief service beginning at 6:00 pm.
Private burial will be at Floral Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
