Obituary for Oliver Edward Deckard

Oliver Edward Deckard, 82, of Bloomington passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born, March 23, 1935 in Monroe County, he was the son of Russell and Hattie (Brown) Deckard.
Oliver was an Inspector for Westinghouse, he was an Industrial Engineer at Otis Elevator for 26 years, and later was employed for Wininger Stolberg Group.
He was a member of Belmont Chapel, the Owen County Tractor Club, and the Hoosier Two Cylinder Tractor Club.
Oliver was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed farming and his John Deere Tractors.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Nancy May (Bruce) Deckard, two daughters, Cynthia Garrison (Phillip) of Spencer, and Amy Bond (Bruce) of Bloomington, one son, Rick Deckard of Indianapolis, grandchildren, Stephine Ann Yoshikiwa, Dustin Deckard, and Caleb Bond, step-grandchildren, Austyn Garrison, and Auytum Curvin (Tyler), step great-granddaughter, Iris Curvin, two sisters, Patricia McCormick, and Nancy Wheeler both of Bloomington, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Mark Deckard and sister, Betty Ellen Deckard Johnson.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Thursday, December 7, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Friday at The Funeral Chapel with Rev. Bruce Bond officiating. Burial will follow at Knightridge Cemetery.
