Obituary for Elmer Chandler Jr.


Elmer Chandler Jr., 88, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday January 26, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his granddaughters, Kelley and Stacey who were the joys of his life. Elmer was born August 25, 1929 in Monroe County and was the son of the late Elmer "Red" Chandler and Elma (Hensley) Chandler.
Elmer worked for 42 years at Allison Gas Turbine where he was a Tradesman and Fine Gage Inspector. He attended South Union Christian Church and enjoyed woodworking and working with his hands. His received his greatest joy spending time with his wife and granddaughters.
Survivors include his step-son Roger Cole Griffith, granddaughters, Kelley Ann Griffith Wardzala (David Wardzala) and Stacey Ann Griffith Emley (Dr. Tyler Emley). Also surviving is an honorary granddaughter, Christian Perisho, daughter-in-law, Gina Griffith, nephew, Samuel Allen Chandler, cousins, Sharon Masters and Jan Edwards, and very special friends, Linda Robertson and Donna Cardwell.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Ruth Chandler (2010), and sons Zane Griffith and James Allen Griffith, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.
Visitation for Elmer will be Monday January 29, 2018 from 4-8 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington.
Funeral Services are pending at the Sheldon-Goodrich Funeral Home in Osceola, Missouri. Burial will be at Macedonia Cemetery in Osceola.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be given to the Benevolent Fund at South Union Christian Church.
