Obituary for Ralph Thrasher

Ralph Thrasher, 90 of Bloomington passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Brown County Health and Living Community.
Ralph was born on May 12, 1927 in Bloomington, the youngest child of Willis and Mary Etta (Paris) Thrasher. A lifelong Bloomington resident, he attended Bloomington High School where he played on the golf team.
On November 22, 1952 Ralph married Wilma Jane Sylvester, also of Bloomington. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage until her death on August 25, 1996. They were active in the North Central Church of Christ.
He served in the US Navy during WWII, as well as a second tour during the Korean War.
In his early thirties, he founded Ralph Thrasher Masonry which existed for many years until his retirement in 1996. Ralph Thrasher Masonry was a contributor to many large projects all over Indiana, including multiple buildings on the IU campus, the Bloomington Justice Building and the Martinsville Court House Annex and the Jail. He served as a trustee for the Indiana Laborers Training and Trust Fund, and was honored when the Logansport training facility was named in his honor recognizing his 45 years of service.
Ralph is survived by one daughter, Patti Rayl (Jeff) of Cheyenne, Wyoming and one son Brent Thrasher (Sara) of Avon, Indiana. Also surviving are three grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers; Paul, Paris, Joseph, Harry, Charles and Robert Thrasher; and three sisters, Mary Thrasher, Kathryn Butcher and Ruth Fiscus.
Services for Ralph will be at 12:30 pm Saturday, February 24, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street. Burial will follow the services at The Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon at The Funeral Chapel.
