Obituary for Robert D. "Bob" Gardner

Robert D. "Bob" Gardner, 84, of Ellettsville, passed away on Saturday March 3, 2018 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Bob was born June 6, 1933 in Monroe County and was the son of the late Jesse M. and Minnie (Davis) Gardner.
Bob was a Firefighter with the Bloomington Fire Department for 32 years and owned Gardner and Son Concrete Service for over 50 years. Bob loved his church family at the Family Life and Worship Center. He enjoyed his Model A cars, and driving his '55 Chevy in Parades, especially the Fall Festival and watching his son Bobby race. Besides finishing concrete Bob's greatest love was his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and time spent with family was most treasured. There will be a huge void in the hearts of all Bob's family and friends that will never be filled.
Bob married Judy A. (Puett) Gardner on December 13, 1952 and they enjoyed 65 years of marriage. Bob is survived by his wife Judy and their children, Bobby (Angie) Gardner, Becky (Philip) Baugh and Lou Anne (Chuck) Mulry all of Ellettsville. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Amy (David) Sargent, Patricia (Tim) Fisher, Tyler (Jennifer) Baugh, Abby (Craig Newsome) Mulry, Todd (Brittney Farmer) Mulry and Gary Dale Ramsey, 6 great grandchildren; Aiden and Andrew Sargent, Laura, Morgan and Addison Fisher, and Wyatt Joseph Baugh, 3 sisters; Betty (Jim) Butler of Greenfield, Sue (Steve) Parrish of Bloomington, and Jane (Alan) Chandler of Florida and 2 brothers; Charles Gardner and Don (Connie) Gardner both of Bloomington, along with several nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Sharon Nicholson, brother, Ted Gardner and his in-laws, Helen and Carlis Puett.
Visitation for Bob will be from 4-8 pm Wednesday March 7, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. and on Thursday from 12:00 pm until service time.
Services will be 1:00 pm Thursday March 8, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel. Pastor Tracy S. Noel and Chase Noel will officiate the service and burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. The Bloomington Fire Department Honor Guard will have full honors for Bob.
Memorial contributions in Bob's memory may be given to The Family Life and Worship Center, Riley Hospital for Children or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
