Condolences

Condolence From: Margaret Clements
Condolence: From the time I met him, it was clear to me that Herb Hoover was an exceptional man. Not only was he committed to the good causes he served; but he was a considered thinker; a creative spirit; and a disciplined administrator. We lost him too soon. They don’t make them like Herb Hoover any more.

Condolence: I am in shock in learning of Herb's passing. Herb talked me in to pursuing a career in sales when we were at ATEC. He was my mentor and I could always rely on his support and wisdom. He had such a huge influence on my life and outlook. I shall miss him greatly.

Condolence From: Craig Morrow
Condolence: I am very sorry to learn of the passing of Herb. I know him through the work he did with Troop 110 of the Boy Scouts. I am still one of the other leaders of the troop and remember Herb and Wiley. Herb was always such a positive role model for the boys and was so much fun to be around. He really did a lot to help the troop, both with the boys and the leaders. May God give his family comfort and strength at this time of loss. Craig Morrow, Josh Morrow, and Jake Morrow

Condolence From: Sarah Grey
Condolence: For over 15 years the Wylie Foundation has sustained an extraordinary project for adult literacy in Haiti: ALFA (an abbreviation of alfabetizasyon). It was Barb whose vision for human rights initiated this support. Herb. Sr. in turn supported and accompanied her in this adventure. For many years, though, it has been Herb. Jr. who has encouraged the program and ensured its continuation. Because of his commitment, Alfa has grown from one single class, to seven sites, each with three levels. On behalf of the hundreds and hundreds of Haitian market women and peasant farmers who are now literate because of Herb's determination, I send respect and profound gratitude. Mesi anpil, zanmi nou.

Condolence From: Kent Tovey
Condolence: To Herb Hoover Sr and the Herb Hoover Jr family, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I grew up with Herb in my younger days and remember playing softball, basketball, swimming, skating/hockey, band, coin collecting and just riding our bikes around in the neighborhood until the street lights turned on. Terrace Lake was a great place to grow up. I pray God's loving arms will give you peace and comfort in your time of loss. God bless you all! Kent Tovey

Condolence: Herb was unfailingly kind and generous, with a wicked sense of humor. We were so lucky to know him and call him a friend; the world is a sadder place without him in it. I hope he realized how much he meant to all of us.

Condolence From: Beth Newman
Condolence: It’s funny how death has a way of erasing time. My memories are of young Herb(ie) and his brothers. What fun we all had, laughing, swimming, and telling ghost stories when darkness settled. Those times were without the cares of the world. Life sure became tougher for the Hoovers and for us all. I am glad Herb now has peace, and I pray his family can embrace peace as well.

Condolence From: Donna Fromm
Condolence: Our family is sad to hear of Herb's death. I remember him fondly as a fellow Cub Scout leader and just a nice, supportive person. He and Wylie made a great team. He seemed so involved and happy to be a part of his children's lives, as did Cathy. I really never saw him again after the kids were in elementary school, but always considered him a real part of our elementary experience. Our condolences and deepest sympathy to your family.
