James M. "Jim" Gobert
James M. "Jim" Gobert, age 80, of Bloomington, Indiana passed away at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on March 12, 2018. Jim was born in Monroe County, Indiana on July 13th, 1937 to Ray “Slim” and Bernice "Bunny" (Baugh) Gobert.
Jim was a construction engineer for Hunt Construction Group, formerly known as Huber, Hunt & Nichols and he was a veteran of the United States Army.
Jim loved everything about nature, which is why he chose construction, an outdoor profession. He enjoyed history, was a trivia buff, and loved watching IU Basketball, but the thing that he cherished most was spending time with his family, including his extended family. He was a witty, fun-loving, kind and gentle person, who loved to tell stories and jokes, and was a great dancer. Through his example, his daughters learned many important life lessons, including the understanding that everyone deserves respect and a non-judgmental attitude. His laidback approach to life lives on in his children, and their children, who learned from watching him. James Melvin Gobert was a great man who will be deeply missed.
Jim was survived by daughters, Lisa Hamilton (Torry) and Leslie Moore (David), grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Hamilton, and Andrew and Addison Gurule, sister, Darla Pitman (Roger), and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra K. (Brinegar) Gobert, his parents, and his sister, Naola Manthey.
