Obituary for James F. Landrum

James F. Landrum, 89, of Bloomington, went home to his meet his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on Saturday April 7, 2018 at the IU Health Hospice House.
Jim was born March 31, 1929 in Bloomington and was the son of Harry Landrum and Merrill E. (Boltinghouse) Landrum. Jim’s mother died at a young age and he was raised with the help of the Anderson and Boltinghouse Families. His father was later married again to Eden Davis Landrum. As a boy his family owned the Dolan Grocery Store and Gas Station where he worked with his dad. He was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.
Jim married Betty L. Robertson on August 8, 1948 and together they shared 61 years of marriage before her passing in 2009. Jim attended Milligan College where he studied to be a minister, and together with his wife they served the Lord by Pastoring several churches and led other ministries as well. Jim Pastored churches in Hampton, TN, Ladoga, IN, Danville, IL, Scottsbluff, NE, and Norfolk, NE, before coming back home to start and help build the Northside Christian Church. Jim helped lead several food ministries that helped provide food to many impoverished countries. He helped start a church in Jerusalem, founded a ministry in Nebraska for Children in Trouble and had a TV show in Danville, IL. He also helped author several books including, “I Remember Korea”. He is a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and was formerly a Rotarian.
Survivors include his 5 sons; Timothy J. Landrum, Steve (Nancy) Landrum, Dennis Landrum, David (Debbie) Landrum, and Danny (Kelly) Landrum, along with 3 brothers; Bob Landrum, Bill Landrum ,Larry Landrum, 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and son-in-law, Del Hamon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step mother, wife, Betty L. Landrum, 2 daughters; Merrill Lou Landrum, and Sherri Hamon, granddaughter, Jennifer Landrum and step brother, Raymond(Barbara) Perkins.
Visitation for Jim will be at Sherwood Oak Christian Church at 2700 E. Rogers Rd. on Monday from 4-8 pm
Visitation will also be on Tuesday at 1 pm April 17 with Funeral Services to follow at 2 pm at Sherwood Oaks Christian Church Chapel. Tom Ellsworth will officiate the service and burial will follow at Payne Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to offset end of life expenses for the Family
