Barbara Jean (Sansone) Minett, age 84, went to be with our Lord on Sunday, July 8, 2018. She was at home surrounded by her loving husband, children, grandchildren and siblings. She was born November 24, 1933 in Bloomington, IN to the late Bert and Martha (Moulton) Sansone.
Barbara lived all of her life in Bloomington, graduating from Bloomington High School in 1951. She was a loving mother to her three children; she was truly the matriarch of her family. She so enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren loving each and every one of them in her own special way. She also relished the close relationship of her brother’s, their wives and especially her two younger sisters along with their spouses. Family meant the world to her and she was the caretaker for her family and friends. Before and after she was married she worked at the King Shop, her father’s Westside Fruit Market and JC Penny’s, but she would tell you her most important job was raising her three children and teaching nursery aged children in Bible class. She taught at both Highland Village Church of Christ and after her husband began his ministry at Bridge Church of Christ, she continued teaching for more than 40 years.
Barbara leaves behind her devoted husband Russell, with whom they would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary in August. Son Mark (Robin), daughter Cathy Murphy (Jim) and son Michael (Cindy Jo). She had 11 grandchildren, Lori (Tim) Kritzer, Drew (Laura) Minett, Beth Phelps-Murphy, Aaron Murphy, Steven Minett, Nicholas Minett, Megan (Trent) Chitwood, twins Joseph and Michael Minett, Christopher Shoemaker and Courtney (Colty) Snoddy. Eleven great grandchildren, sisters Evelyn (Tony) McMillan), Augustine (Daniel) Stillons, brother Vincent (Betty) Sansone and Michael (Janet) Sansone, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, one brother Robert Sansone and a nephew Bradley Minett.
Barbara’s family will receive friends Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 4:00 – 8:00pm and 9:30-10:30am Friday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St., Bloomington, IN. Funeral services will be 10:30am at The Funeral Chapel with Ron Adamson and Mike McClary officiating. Burial will follow at Bridge Cemetery in Unionville.
