Obituary for Vera J Nicholson

Vera J. Nicholson went home to her Lord Jesus on March 23, 2014, from her earthly home in Bloomington, Indiana following a battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease). She was born May 4, 1935, the daughter of Oliver and Oma (Todd) Shields, now deceased. Vera was a graduate of Smithville High School. She owned and operated Nicholson Mobile Home Park, and V.J. Rentals. She was a member of the Bloomington Free Methodist Church, Lambda Chi Omega Sorority, Town and Country Home Extension Club, and the Hoosier Hills Emmaus Community. Vera was an amazing lady. Whether with her family, at work, church or other settings she was always smiling, laughing, and giving sound words of wisdom. She loved her euchre and card friends. She is deeply loved by her family, friends, and work associates. She was preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) F. Nicholson Sr., son William (Nick) F. Nicholson, Jr., brother Philip Shields, sisters Donetta Morris, and Wanetta Shields. She is survived by her sister Judy Trinkle (Leonard), brother Steve Shields (Machelle); children David Nicholson (Jennifer), Nancy Thompson (Mark), Susan Breeden (Mike), nephew Cameron Scott Shields; eleven grandchildren, Stacy Maitha (Charlo), Heidi Cornell, Joshua Nicholson (Hollie), Sarah Abel, Jessica Kelwaski (Mark), Billy Abram (Suzie), Jeanette Toumey, Hannah Huntington, Caleb Breeden, Christy Thompson, Jonah Breeden; fifteen great-grandchildren (and growing) and numerous other beloved relatives. Visitation will be from 4 to 8PM on Wednesday, March 26 at the Funeral Chapel, 3000 E 3rd St, Bloomington, IN. Further visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30AM on Thursday, March 27 at the Bloomington Free Methodist Church, 1121 S Lincoln, with the celebration of life service at 10:30. Memorial gifts may be sent to the Bloomington Free Methodist Church, ALS of Indiana, or the Smithville Food Pantry.
