Obituary for Jack R. Young

Jack R. Young, 85, of Bloomington passed away Wednesday, June 04, 2014 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Born, July 15, 1928 in Wabash, Indiana, he was the son of Theodore and Ruth (Fordyce) Young. Jack was a 1946 graduate of Wabash High School and a 1950 graduate of Butler University. For several years he owned Young’s Pharmacy in Wabash in downtown Wabash. In 1985 moved from Wabash to Bloomington and later became the Chief Pharmacist at the IU Health Center. He was a member of the American Legion Post #18, a member of Mizpah Shrine and a U.S. Army Veteran. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed sports and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include one son, Kip Young (Maureen) of Bloomington, one daughter, Carla Thomas (Mitch) of Novi, MI, two grandchildren, Kate Rogers (Tim), Kelsey Thomas and one great-granddaughter, Lauren Rogers. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannine (Eiler) Young (2011) and his son, Kyle Young (2010). Visitation will be 1:00-2:30pm Saturday, June 7, 2014 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, IN 47401. Funeral services will be 2:30pm Saturday at The Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Shrine’s Hospital for Children, 1645 W 8TH St, Erie, PA 16505.
