Obituary for Peggy Lynn Zonkle (Taylor)

Peggy Lynn Zonkle, 69, of Ellettsville, IN, made her transition Sunday January 22th, 2017. Born February 22, 1947, in Hutchinson, KS, she was the only child of Glenn Taylor and Colleen Green.
A Master graduate of Indiana University, Peggy chose a career in education. She loved being around eight year olds and taught third grade for most of her 32 years career with Spencer-Owen Community Schools. She was a pianist and singer, and loved to teach her students old songs that were new to them. Peggy wanted a family to raise and found a sweet, loving guy in Tom Zonkle, who preceded her in death on April 9th, 2014. Tom was the wonderful father of their children, Bonnie and Sam Zonkle. She was a member of Unity Church of Bloomington and often sang solos at Sunday services. Never happier than when she was playing in the dirt, Peggy loved tending her plants and flowers. She was a loving mother, a loyal and generous friend and a spiritual seeker who so often spoke of God's love and grace.
Survivors include her long time partner, Donita Hadley; her daughter, Bonnie Zonkle and her fiance, George Smith, of Ellettsville; son, Sam Zonkle of Denver, Colo.; three cousins; close friends, Susan Moon, Ellen Sbarounis, Barb Schwegman, Mary Heldt and Linda Campbell; and loyal funny canines, Duke and Button.
A celebration of life will be held 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at The Funeral Chapel in Bloomington, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington. All are welcome to come and share their special personal remembrances of Peggy.
Our deepest gratitude to those health care professionals who took care of Peggy over the years, Dr. Lois Lambrecht, Dr. Gregory Sidell, Dr. Brian Moore, Dr, J.D. Headdy, and the staff at HearthStone Health Campus.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Monroe County Public Library.
