Obituary for Elmo Calvin Fleener

Elmo Calvin Fleener, 82, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, December 17, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Born, November 1, 1935 in Bloomington, he was the son of the late Merle B. and Jessie R. (Kerr) Fleener.
Elmo was a 1953 graduate of Unionville High School and a 1961 graduate of the School of Business at Indiana University.
A veteran of the United States Navy, he served as an Electrician from 1953-1957.
He was the owner of Fleener's Insurance Agency for over 27 years. Prior to that he was an Agent with Allstate for 13 years.
Elmo was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Esther (Merida) Fleener, two sons, Gary Fleener, Timothy Fleener (Terry May), one daughter, Linda Sills (David) all of Bloomington, granddaughter, Ruth Ann Fleener of Bloomington, grandsons, Brian and Kyle Sills both of Columbus, and great-granddaughters, Madison Platter, Joelyn and Kaylyn Sills, brother, Fred Shields of Bloomington and several much loved nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Leslie and Wilburn Fleener and sisters, Lois Rush, Jeanette Guthrie, Mary Ann Hammond, and Lucille Sturgeon, an infant brother and sister, and several step-brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be 3-7pm Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday at The Funeral Chapel with Pastors Kory Ferree and Myron Young officiating. Burial will follow at Payne Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church or to IU Health Hospice House.
