Obituary for George E. "Bud" Bruce

George E. "Bud" Bruce, 81, of Bloomington passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at IU Health Hospice House, Thursday, April 12, 2018.
Born, May 22, 1936 in Bloomington, he was the son of Roy and Mary (Rush) Bruce.
Bud loved his family.
He was an avid golfer and his love for playing golf brought him great joy along with his sons, brothers, and golfing buddies.
Bud was a retired Fireman for the Bloomington Fire Department serving for 20 years.
He was a self employed contractor, no job was too small or large for him to repair or fix. He was knowledgeable in all aspects of construction. One of his many gifts was serving others, he was always there when needed.
Bud loved all forms of auto racing, he especially enjoyed watching his grandson, Roy Bruce Jr. race at the Bloomington Speedway.
He was a man who never said anything bad about anyone. His kindness and gentle spirit was what he was known for. He has left a legacy that will be hard to live up to. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Bruce Sr. (Sarah), and George Bruce, two daughters, Melissa Bruce (Terry Forney), and Tam Bruce Riney, three brothers, Robert "Bobby" Bruce (Sue), Paul "Sonny" Bruce (Carol), and Gary "Tub" Bruce (Nancy), one sister, Anna Bruce Dunning, grandchildren, Roy Bruce Jr. (Amy), Leafa Burns (Darren), Dustin Bruce, David Bruce, Jeremy Wise, Crystal Vest (Anthony), Richard Wise, Trista Ramage, Jessica Cole (Kenny), Acacia, Ramage, and Mickey Riney, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Cheryl Bruce Wise, brother, William "Billy" Bruce, granddaughter, Tiffany Bruce, and daughter-in-law, Cathy Bruce.
Visitation will be 2-8pm Sunday, April 15, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Monday at The Funeral Chapel with Tom Ellsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to IU Health Hospice House in Bloomington.
