Vera June Ward, 87, of Bloomington, passed away on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at Garden Villa Nursing Home. Vera was born June 29, 1931 in Orange County, and was the daughter of the late Stanley and Mabel (Tolbert) Bennett.
Vera was a graduate of West Baden High School. She was a homemaker and also worked at PALS Daycare for 27 years. She was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and loved to sew and cook.
Survivors include two children, Susan (Daniel James) Miller and Joe (Dena) Ward, 5 grandchildren; Christopher Joe “CJ” Ward, April (Brett) Harden, Heather (Chris) Burks, Kayla Miller and Kyle Miller, 7 great grandchildren; Paisley Ward, Oliver Harden, Caitlynn Burks, Marilyn Burks, Kayson Chandler, Remington Miller, and Ryiker Baugh, and 2 brothers, Morris Bennett and Wilbur (Deeann) Bennett.
Vera was preceded in death by her husband Hyscel Ward in 2017, parents, 4 sisters; Helen Bennett, Thelma Merry, Lois Padgett, and Frances Ramey.
Visitation for Vera will be from 4-8 pm Monday October 29, 2018 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington.
Services will be on Tuesday October 30, 2018 at 10:30 am at The Funeral Chapel with Tom Ellsworth officiating. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm Tuesday Bond’s Chapel Cemetery in Orange County with Pastor Rob Martindale officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Bond’s Chapel Cemetery.
