Joseph G. “Joe” Sipes, 79, of Bloomington passed away Sunday, November 11, 2018 with his children by his side at IU Health Hospice House.
Born, February 24, 1939 in Monroe County, IN; he was the son of the late Ernest Fay and Maude (Gillham) Sipes.
Joe was a Skilled Trade Machinist for Allison in Indianapolis, Otis Elevator, and Carlisle Brake and Friction in Bloomington.
He was significant in building the new sanctuary at Sanders Pentecostal Church and attended for over 35 years.
Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Janice (Martin) Sipes, one daughter, Jody Renfro (Don), and one son, Tad Sipes (Leanne) all of Bloomington, grandchildren, Cory Lettelleir (Marybeth), Jay Sipes (Samantha), Adam Sipes, and Megan Sipes, great-grandchildren, Gideon and Reuben Lettelleir, sister, Brenda Fulford (Jack), step daughters, Cully Musick (Doug), Cathleen Adams (Wendell), and Amy Porter, step grandchildren, Jared, Morgan, and Logan Koerner, Abby, and Matt Watson, Haley, Heather, and Hunter Powell, step great-grandchildren, David Powell, Violet, Quinn, and Deckard Koerner, and the love of his life, Joe’s Lab Milly.
Joe was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Kenneth Sipes, Ruth Terrell, Maxine Chambers, Clarence Sipes, Leon Sipes, and Bob Sipes.
Visitation will be 4-8pm Wednesday, November 14, 2018 and 10-11am Thursday at Sanders Pentecostal Church, 6490 S. Fairfax Rd. Bloomington, IN 47401.
Funeral services will be 11:00am Thursday at the church with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
