Judith (Judy) K. Andrews died Thursday, November 13 at Methodist Hospital. She was born in Indianapolis on January 31, 1934 to Ferd and Elizabeth Krentler. Having lived in Bloomington most of her life, she graduated from University High School in 1952. While raising four children, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs in 1976. From 1978 until 2004 she worked in the Groups Student Support Services Program at Indiana University, receiving the IU Staff Merit Award in 1983 and a certificate of merit from the National Recognition Program for academic advising in 1984. She enjoyed her job very much and enjoyed serving the students!
Judy’s greatest joy was to spend time with her children. They felt very lucky to have had such a wonderful mother and she was very proud of them for their strength, integrity and goodness.
Judy loved to sing in the Bloomington Threshold Choir and to offer comfort to the staff, family and patients at Hospice House where she sang weekly. She will be deeply missed. Her spirit was gentle and giving and her passing was the same.
Survivors include her partner, Penny Fisher and her children, Robert Andrews of Denver, Dr. Cynthia Andrews (Mark) of Phoenix and Matt Andrews (Jill) of Bloomington, as well as her grandchildren, Terry Williams, Tanna Williams, Daniel Andrews, Lauren Brachfeld, Grace Hancock, Frank Smith and Corben Andrews. Mason Andrews, her greatgrandchild (father, Daniel)and Hunter Williams (father, Terry) also survive.
Preceding her in death were her parents and brother, John Krentler, as well as her daughter, Kathleen Andrews Hancock (2014).
There will be a celebration of life scheduled for Judy on December 8th at 11 am at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Unitarian Universalist Church 2120 N. Fee Ln. Bloomington, IN 47408.
