The Lady Next Door

I'm so very sad to learn of Dixie's passing. My family lived next to the Browns on Manor Road. I just loved Howard and Dixie. My late brother, Gene, was closest to Billy and they often included Teddy in their travels around the neighborhood. Years ago, I showed up at Dixie's door with my three sons. The eldest and youngest were blonde and looked alike. The middle one was thinner and didn't resemble the other two -- just like Dixie and Howard's boys. Dixie laughed and laughed...as she always did. Recently, with the help of my classmate Monty McDaniel, we were able to help the surgeon who operated on Bobby in Vietnam get in touch with Billy and Teddy. He had been wanting to contact the family for years and, as it turns out, he lives very near Teddy in Indianapolis. I'm sure Billy and Teddy told Dixie about meeting the surgeon, Dr. Robert Jackson. I like to think things happen in sequence for a reason.
