To the Elkins Family:

I will always remember Tava for her gentleness, her gracefulness, her sweet smile and her quick wit. She had a great sense of humor and knew her purpose in life. She was determined to achieve her purpose in life but equally as determined to do everything in her power to make sure you achieved her expectations of your purpose in life!!! She was so interesting to talk to and made everyone feel welcome. She just had a quality about her that made me feel special just to be in her presence. Quite simply she was a lady whose inner beauty and exterior beauty were always on high wattage. She just had a quality about her that is rare and is to be admired. She will be missed but never forgotten.

I shall consider Tava as part of my family because of Sue but it was Tara who made me feel as if I had become part of the Elkins family.

You all had the honor of enjoying Tava as your mentor, your mother, your mother-in-law and your grandmother for so many years. Your memories are plentiful, vivid and so very special to each one individually and to everyone collectively. Treasure them as it was Tava who added so much to the tapestry of each of your lives.

Thank you for sharing Tava with me.

Donna F. Pratt

I am honored to have known her and to have had the unique experience of spending time with her over these so many years.

This past summer many of A.W. (Wayne) Bruner's family attended a very special Bruner Reunion near Bloomington, Indiana. The gathering was wonderful, and the fellowship was a beautiful sharing of family. This was my only time to meet Miss Tava, a cherished and respected family elder.
Wayne's sons loved every minute of their visit as did their children who were able to attend. They took a series of photographs which are a cherished remembrance of that gathering.
It is sad to hear of the passing of a loved person, but she certainly had strong family and religious support from all those around her. As serious as this subject is, I want to add a clever detail from Tava herself-- when the four brothers were visiting in Indiana a year or so ago. She saw four men walking up her sidewalk while she was sitting on her porch; she was not in the least concerned. She said, "I saw them and knew they were all Bruners!"
Kind and loving thoughts to all her family.
Mrs. Buddy (Sarah) Bruner, Bloomington
