Obituary for Tava K. (Bruner) Elkins

Tava K. (Bruner) Elkins of Bloomington, passed away on Friday, January 4 at home surrounded by her family. Tava was born in Bloomington, Indiana, April 29, 1926 to Henry Pete and Lola (Cazee) Bruner.
Tava married the love of her life, Charles Richard (Dick) Elkins on her birthday, 1947. They had four children, Dixie Joy Jones (Daniel), Dexter Jed Elkins (Sue), Douglas Jerome Elkins (Nannette) and Duffe Jose Elkins (Krista). She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren; Nik Jones, Angee Jones, Katrina Jones, Juli Elkins, Jeremy Elkins (Lori), Dacia Parnell (Jordan), Jenna Elkins, Kyle Elkins (Rachel), Kristopher Elkins, Korey Elkins (Alicia), Madeline Elkins, Mason Elkins and Marlee Elkins and seven great grandchildren, Roarke and Everly Parnell, Miller and Avery Kate Elkins, Norah Elkins, Lark and Lilia Elkins.
Tava is survived by her children and grandchildren and her sisters in law Betty (Elkins) Jacobs, Brenda (Bruner) Terrell, Leah (Butcher) Bruner, Diane (Frye) Bruner, and lifelong friend Mary Ellen (Terrell) Lloyd.
She was preceded in death by her husband Charles, her parents, her sister Joy (Bruner) Hill, and brothers Jack, Roger, Gary and Rudy Bruner.
A lifelong believer in the Apostolic faith, she was a member of Grace Tabernacle, Orleans, Indiana.
Tava will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she loved dearly.
The family wants to extend a special thanks to Beverly McArtor, her caregiver the past few years.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm Monday January 7, 2019 with services at 1:00 pm Monday at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Tava's son-in-law Daniel Jones will officiate the service and burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
