Obituary for Betty May Newland

Betty May Newland, 96, of Bloomington, passed away on Friday February 8, 2019 at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Betty was born May 25, 1922 in North Manchester, IN and was the daughter of the late Oscar and Audrey (Jordan) Reiff.
Betty was a Homemaker and was a longtime member of Woodhaven Christian Church where she had served as the Financial Secretary and was very active at the church until her health no longer allowed her to be. She enjoyed knitting, and was a volunteer with the Red Cross. She loved all sports and especially enjoyed Indiana University sports. After Betty's husband John passed away she enjoyed traveling with the groups from Monroe County State Bank to many different locations.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Ray Dosh of Marion, Indiana.
Betty was preceded in death by her first husband, Marvin Garber who was shot down and killed in World War II; her second husband John S. Newland who passed away in 1989, her parents; brother, Jack Reiff; and half sister, Maxine Miller.
Visitation for Betty will be on Tuesday, February 12, 2019 from 6-8 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington, and on Wednesday from 10:00 am until service time.
Services will be on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 11:00 am at The Funeral Chapel with Pastor Steve Baker officiating. Burial will follow at Clear Creek Cemetery.
