Obituary for Linda Gail (Ruggles) Sieboldt

Linda Gail (Ruggles) Sieboldt 72, passed away February 18, 2019, in Bloomington, Indiana. Linda was born to William “Dutch” and Martha (Crane) Ruggles on January 26, 1947. She grew up in Unionville, Indiana, graduating from Unionville High School in 1965.

She worked at Indiana University from 1967 until her retirement in 2002. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dutch and Martha Ruggles as well as her sister and brother-in-law Helen (Ruggles) and Russell Arthur. Linda is survived by her husband Ralph Sieboldt and daughters Lori Sieboldt, M.D. and Tracy (Sieboldt) Blanc, as well as her son-in-law Brion Blanc, former son-in-law Doug Lowery, M.D. and four grandchildren, Maxwell Lowery, Abigail Lowery, Tessa Blanc, and Tara Blanc.

Linda adored her grandchildren spending many hours traveling to see them compete in sports, academic or dance programs. She had a special love for Max, Abi, Tessa, and Tara. She never missed a school program or graduation. Max, the oldest grandchild, and only boy is currently a Freshman at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. Abi is a sophomore at Reitz Memorial High School in Evansville, Indiana. Tessa is in eighth grade, and Tara is in seventh grade at Honey Creek Middle School in Terre Haute, Indiana.

After Linda’s retirement, she and Ralph began a second career in antiques establishing Blue Barn Antiques which they owned and operated from 1991 until 2015. She loved all things historical but had a particular interest in Firkins, pantry boxes, and primitive cherry furniture.

Visitation for Linda will be on Thursday, February 21, 2019, from 4:00-8: 00 pm at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 East Third Street, Bloomington and on Friday from 12:00-1:00, followed immediately by a short funeral service.

In place of flowers, Linda’s family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to the charity of your choosing.
