Obituary for Maxine Swango
Jewell Maxine Swango, age 95, of Bloomington, IN, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at IU Health Bloomington Hospice House.
She was born June 18, 1923, in Monroe County, a daughter of the late Ordie and Lola Swango.
Maxine was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille and Esther, and her parents, Ordie and Lola.
She was a member of the Pillar of Fire Tabernacle, and for many years a member of the Harrodsburg Assembly of God church. She was a beloved Sunday school teacher to many. She retired from RCA after many years of service. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, crocheting, sewing, gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family, friends, and furry friends.
Maxine is survived by a nephew and two nieces, Robert East (Betty), of Belmont, Marlene Rice and Suzanne Walls (Phil), of Bloomington; two great-nieces and two great-nephews, Marla Haymaker (Robert) of Mitchell, Cynthia Hughes (Daniel) of Bloomington, Greg Walls (Lori) of Lafayette, LA, and Chris Walls (Jamie) of Bloomington; and many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. for one hour prior to the funeral at 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held Monday, February 25, 2019, at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard in Bloomington, Indiana, with Rev. Marlene Rice officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg, IN.
