Obituary for Rev. Lee Coffman

Rev. Dennis Lee Coffman passed away peacefully at the IU Health Hospice House on Friday, April 5, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Lee was born in Gosport, Indiana on March 29, 1931 to Ellis Casey and Ella J. Coffman.
Lee grew up on a farm in Monrovia, Indiana with loving foster parents, Dalbert and Leon Lewis. He started Bible College in Corpus Christie, Texas at the age of 16. He was a traveling evangelist when he met his loving first wife, Katherine Graves Coffman. He pastored his first church in Illinois before coming to Bloomington, Indiana. He then pastored Henderson Street Church, which later became Apostolic Bible Church for 39 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing trips along with his many traveling vacations.
Lee is survived by a sister, Sharolyn (Bob) Barron and their children, also surviving are Lee’s children, Dwight (Cathy) Coffman and Mark (Jane) Coffman; four grandchildren; Duane (Sarah) Coffman, Tiffany (Nate) Douglas, Priscilla (Jim) Davidson, Chad (Jenny) Coffman, and fifteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Katherine Coffman and his second wife, Mattie Coffman, daughter Deborah Coffman, sisters, Ruth James, Betty Quackenbush, Louise Potter, and brother Benjamin Coffman, and great-granddaughter, Cailee Coffman.
Visitation will be Friday, April 12 at Apostolic Bible Church, 3291 South Walnut St. Pike Bloomington, Indiana 47401. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM until the start of the service at 1:00 PM.
The funeral service will be officiated by Pastor Duane Coffman.
Burial will take place at Valhalla Memory Gardens in Bloomington.
Arrangements are entrusted to The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
