Obituary for Eunice Lea (Ratliff) Condra

Eunice Lea (Ratliff) Condra went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24th. She was surrounded by her loving family.
Eunice was the daughter of Tilden and Leona (Branam) Ratliff.
She lived in New Unionville for most of her life. She began working in a factory at the age of 12 to help support her family. She later lived and worked in Indianapolis with her sisters, where she met and married her husband Eldon C. Condra.
Eunice and Eldon proudly owned and operated a family grocery store, Condra's Lakeside Market. Through her determination and drive, she instilled in her kids and grandchildren a hard work ethic. She drove a truck that serviced the community with water and could even operate heavy machinery. It was well known that you never told Eunice "you can't do that." As her grandchildren often heard her say, "I have guts!" She showed them a love for nature and the woods, particularly in the spring as she enjoyed mushroom hunting with them.
When you had a visit with Eunice, you left with a recipe, a cookbook, or a spiritual book, and a sermon about the Lord she loved. She also loved making her family laugh and smile, seeing the humor in nearly every situation. She was able to enjoy her last days surrounded by loved ones, who gathered to share in her presence and delight in sharing meals. She was our matriarch and will be missed!
Eunice is survived by her children, Connie (Phil) Fisher of Bloomington, IN, John (Karen) Condra of Bloomington, IN, and Sandra (Steve) Mack of Bloomington, IN, step-son, David (Joann) Condra of KY, 10 grandchildren and their spouses, 21 great-grandchildren, sister, Emma Lou Hollerman, and brother, Claude Ratliff.
Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon C. Condra, son, Jimmie Condra, granddaughter, Julie Condra, sisters, Leatha Wilson, Lillian Bezzy, Lois Dremonas, Vera Fritch, and Tillie Shields.
Visitation for Eunice will be from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM on Monday, April 29, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third Street Bloomington, Indiana.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday at The Funeral Chapel, with burial to follow at Bethel Cemetery in Bloomington. Pastor Nick Defore will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to North Side Christian Church for Wheeler Mission's Camp Hunt, 3993 N. Prow Road Bloomington, Indiana 47404.
We would like to give a special thank you to the office of Dr. Schmalz for taking great care of our mom over the years.
