Obituary for David Lee Fulford

David Lee Fulford, 70, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the IU Health Hospice House. David was born April 15, 1949 in Bloomington, IN and was the son of the late Russell and Lola (Sexton) Fulford.
David worked for over 30 years at Westinghouse/ABB and after his retirement he worked several more years at the Indiana University Cyclotron. David was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed trapping, fishing, shooting his bow and arrows, feeding birds and squirrels and even building many bird houses through the years. He was a former State Champion horseshoe thrower. Dave knew how to have fun and was the jack of all trades. He not only loved to play euchre and test his luck gambling at the casino, but he was notorious for making all of his cherished friends and family laugh when he shared his rascally one-of-a-kind jokes. He enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden, shared his love for wild animals by building rabbit cages, chicken coops, and bird feeders. He even enjoyed playing rounds of golf with his sons. Dave was a craftsman and could build anything from scratch. However, Dave’s most passionate and long-lived hobby was his love for playing the mandolin. He played in various bluegrass festivals, count fairs, and other attractions. Last but certainly not the least, Dave sought the Lord and was baptized by his friend and Pastor, Justin Rains, on September 26th, 2018. Dave was truly loved and treasured by his family and friends and will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his children, Rebecca (Daniel) Fleener, Beth (Angie Porter) Fulford, Casey (Liz) Fulford, and Cody (Victoria) Fulford. Also surviving are grandchildren; Grant Miller, Mackenzy Fulford, Boston Fulford, Liam Fulford and one on the way, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Emery Fulford, Paul Fulford, Ella Lindsay, Ray Fulford and Dorothy Richardson.
Services for David will be 1:00 pm Thursday, May 9, 2019 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. Bloomington. Pastor Justin Rains will officiate the service and burial will follow at Hindustan Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 4-8 pm and from 12:00 pm until service time on Thursday at The Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Indiana State Trappers Association.
