Mitchell Novit, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away at age 87. Mitchell was born in South Carolina to Samuel and Freda Novit.

Upon graduation from the University of North Carolina with a BA in English he entered the Air Force and served for three years. He continued his education at the University of Michigan where he earned his MBA and PhD. He met and married Judy and they enjoyed just a few days shy of 60 years together. They raised two children, David and Amy. Mitch’s teaching career began at Indiana University in 1966 at the IU School of Business, now known as the Kelley School. He was a professor in the Department of Management and retired in 1995. Upon retirement he joined the Student Advocates office and volunteered there for the next 13 years. When he visited them at their home, he often packed some cards to take with him to perform for them. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians and served as treasurer of the Bloomington Magic Club for many years. He was an avid bicyclist and enjoyed cycling through Monroe County and surrounding areas. His love of reading was forever part of his life.
